Abstract

Abstract

According to the Institute for Economy and Peace, Burkina Faso is the 4th country most affected by terrorist attacks which not only caused deaths but also forced many populations in psychosocial distress to migrate to more secure localities. The populations who fled to other areas within the country, also called internally displaced persons, include more than 60% of people under 18 years of age. The objective of our research was to assess the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder and associated factors among these child victims of terrorism. We conducted a cross-sectional, descriptive, analytical and monocentric study among 181 internally displaced children in the age group of 8 to 18 years in the largest reception site for internally displaced persons "tiwèga1" in the city of Kaya in Burkina-Faso. Our study highlighted a prevalence of this pathology of 38.1% (69/181).
